Happy Birthday Grandma

Yesterday we celebrated my Grandmother’s 72nd birthday. When Nana arrived at our house everyone gave her a jumbo balloon and showered her with love. She had no idea about the party that her great-grandkids planned. Of course, Ella took all the credit. It is no secret that my big girl has her Nana wrapped around her finger.

Ella could not wait to tell Nana about all the party planning she did. Nana called her a sneaky little mouse and of course Ella thought that was funny. She did not want to share her Nana at all but got distracted when it was time for cake.  My crew did not hold back when it was time for Nana to blow out her candles. Luckily, Nana asked for assistance and wanted them to make a wish too.

Rosie loves to sing happy birthday and could not wait to sing happy birthday. We have been practicing the song and she loves to say “I’m THREE”. She is not three but copies everything her older brother says. So it is safe to say we looked quite suspects at the Build-a-Bear pay you age event. Rosie wanted her Nana and sister to sing the song one more time and she giggled so hard when everyone said Rosie is two. She said, “STOP, Rosie is THREE”.  My little girl really believes she is three.

Nana had no idea that the kids invited some surprise guest. Her granddaughter greeted her with a big hug and kiss and gave her the sweetest birthday card. More surprise guest arrived and Nana was so happy to celebrate with her family.

Yesterday I was so happy to see my Nana and Ella happy. These two love each other so much. When I found out I was going to be a mom I was terrified. I suffered from depression during my pregnancy and PPD after I had Ella. I was scared to return to work because I did not trust anyone with my baby. My Nana retired early and moved in with me to help me take care of Ella. Now she lives in my childhood home with my auntie and is always there for my crew.  Motherhood is easy because of her and I am beyond grateful to have her help me raise her great grandkids. Nothing can ever replace the bond they have and I am glad I have the opportunity to capture priceless memories like this. Happy Birthday, Grandma.

Real Life, Always.

XO
